Heart of the Nation Communities

We're helping to complete the Chain of Survival for more people in more places where it's needed most often - in the home!  Every year, more than 25,000 Aussies have an out of hospital cardiac arrest and less than 5% survive!  Up to 80% of these cardiac arrests occur in residential areas where there is often no access to an AED. The one thing that's been proven to help increase survival is rapid access to CPR and an AED (defibrillator).  Becoming a Heart of the Nation Community means that you can have access to both of these, as well as being connected to your neighbours to provide prompt assistance when needed via the Heart of the Nation app.

The Chain of Survival

When someone is not responding - CALL 000 and send for an AED immediately.
When someone is not breathing normally or at all - start CPR.
When the AED arrives on scene, use it to SHOCK the patient.

It's important to remember that you don't need to be trained in CPR or how to use an AED in order to try to save someone's life!  Any attempt at resuscitation is better than no attempt.
